Aeronautica published so many fine articles in 2009...

... that we were to discover in this growing Airforce in Slovenia !

Enjoy scrolling down through our impression pages and reading the article
i
TWO BASES: CERKLJE & BRNIK
Introduction to the types of airplanes in use:
i

LET - L-410 UVP-E TURBOLET

The Let L-410 is the fixed wing transport horse of the Slovenian fleet
h
How much bad luck can you have... it was raining cats and dogs during our visit days

Never the less the maintainance crew was 'caught in the act' while servicing the Turbo-Let

Cerklje Airfield does not only host military planes, but is also a busy civil airfield as well
i

EUROCOPTER - COUGAR AS532-AL

The next type is the Cougar, a 'roof-drive' workhorse

The type is to be foun on both bases, maintainance provided on the spot

We'll be back on this type later on.
i

PILATUS - PC-6B PORTER

Who doesn't know this Icon of aviation: The Pilatus Porter for all kinds of jobs...

... reliable to the bone, endless, timeless, and very useful for medium range jobs !
i

BELL 412-SP/HP/EP - GRIFFON

Next to the Cougar the Bell-412 is also a backbone to Slovenian Airforce

This machine is used very intense, for several purposes

We'll see it back later on, here some images on Cerklje

Maintaining, training, SAR, fire fighting...

... it can do it all, this multi purpose helicopter

As you see a lot of space for wounded men, a hoist and medical equipment

A view in two cockpit variants...

... with many life-saving items such as life-base package and lifepack defibrillator

Next to inside, the outside was shown to us, no sunny shot... but this also is reality !

In that case you'd better work in the modern maintainance halls, all new built recently

Ok, let the Bell fly, and finally we show you some wrecks and relics on the Slovenian Bases...

... such as this Sabre and an old preserved DC-6B
