Gastvrij werden we ontvangen bij het KLPD, om een kijkje te nemen bij de nieuwe Agusta-Westland AW-139 helicopters. 
We had a warm welcome, to have a look at the new Agusta-Westland AW-139 helicopters. 
 
De Vakspecialist Luchtsteun en de Chef-Vlieger gaven Piloot en Vliegtuig op 25 juli 2012 een kijkje achter de schermen
The Air-support specialist and Chief-flights gave 'Piloot en Vliegtuig' a nice view on july 25th 
Afgetankt en wel stond een van de twee AW-139's reeds paraat op het beton van Schiphol-Oost
Fully refuelled one of the two AW-139's was standing on alert at the Schiphol-East platform
Beide vliegers inspecteren de kist nog even aan de buitenzijde, en ook in de kist volgen checklists en visuele controles.
Both pilots give the machine a last visual check and inspection, also checklists follow in the cockpit 
 De cockpit's van deze AW-139's hebben speciale 'features' welke niet kunnen worden prijsgegeven

De instellingen van de stoelen worden nog even 'in comfort' gezet, er zal een vlucht volgen van drie uur

De AW-139 is een 'easy to handle' kist, en kan met 1 man 'groundcrew' af om te starten

Zo goed als gereed voor vertrek.

Bemanning is bepakt en bezakt, communicatie onderling gechecked, en weldra zal de heli airborne zijn zoals hierboven
FCrew is equipped, communication has been checked, soon the machine will be air-borne as seen above
Vlak voor vertrek met draaiende rotors een laatste visuele check aan de buitenzijde...

...  en de heli begeeft zich via de roller naar de startbaan.

Raam dicht, eenmaal in bedrijf komt er nogal wat wind onder de rotorbladen vandaan ! 
Close your window, rotors are goin to blow like hell !
Via de startbaan verheft de AW-139 zich, wachtend op toestemming om te vertrekken. De taken kunnen zeer gevarieerd zijn...
Hoovering over the runway the AW-139 climbs a little, waiting for clearance to depart. A variety of the tasks can be carried out
... zoals controle, 'showing flag', inspecties, hulp bij redding op zee, ondersteuning kustwacht etc. ....
... like supervision, showing flag, rescue at sea, coast-guard support...
... maar ook voor DSI (Dienst Speciale Interventie) zoals terrorismebestrijding ! (foto Mark Holman)

De wielen kunnen worden ingetrokken, dit scheelt in brandstof en snelheid
A retractable landing gear, saves speed and fuel
Al met al een prachtig stuk gereedschap, wat vliegt 'In dienst van de burger'. U zultde machines vaker en vaker zien.
A fine tool, flying in service of civilians. The machines will show themselves often now  
Deze helikopter is u wellicht bekender, de EC-135 van Eurocopter.

Deze Politie Eurocopters staan ook gestationeerd op Schiphol-Oost.
These Police Eurocopters are also based at Schiphol-East.
