A  warm  welcome  in  the  US  Army  camp  at  Eerde  Village,  entry  just  1  € !

For just one € you could enter this very, very detailed camp and see how it was these days
On the entrance of the camp a machine gun and trench were to be seen
Communication was very important, here a radio post...
W
... very nice old patch panels in the radio-tent...

.... and kilometers wires on reels !

In the camp was an enormous collection of old military things...
... just sit back, relax and look around, our fee is for free  :-)

Amazing thing is that nothing can be compared to 'just a collection' or museum...

... while the many re-enactors do their things, build tents for the night...
... cook meals...

... park their vehicles and even post as watch...
The chansonnier sings the old war-songs for real !!

In between (real) old veterans enjoy the camp, the environment, and think back on those days...

... one cannot imagine how all these people enjoyed to be host or guest...

... soup was served in the field...
... the butcher was preparing slices sausages...

... and the men were talking about home, wife and beauty.

Old Jeep's all over the place,
some of them had very nice details painted on it
... and real Americans were actually in this camp for real !
Just look at such a picture, this IS 1944, isn't it ??
We tried to picture as much as possible in 'that time', avoiding much as possible 2009 items.
Right man is Hans Jaket, director of Defense Uniform Private Museum

Now we reach the Field Hospital

Medical vehicles and ambulances...

... a tent for immediate surgery...

... a wounded man is brought in, his hand is amputated...

... all kind of equipment, a sterilization tray...
... theold veteran buys himself a tincan of beer, cheers !!

Even the old grammophone was there to play the LP's of that time

While reaching the end of this camp-tour, let's thank all these fine people for all their efforts and commitment

The machine gun is inspected...
We dedicate this impreession to the people of Eerde, here along the road spectating the 'Battle' .
