CHINOOK CH-47D  300Sqn

... And a big hello to you too Sir ! What a mighty sight, this transport giant !
Or what to think of this... an awkward body ?? Forget it !
We see the Chinook here at Gilze Rijen, exercising hoisting various objects

This is done with the help of the loadmaster and the MAOT team on the ground.
W
The Chinook can carry troops, very heavy loads, also light equipment for in the battlezone

Troops are dropped in minutes, and can be collected within the same time limit
Exercised many times, specially for the Afghan deserts where the brownwash effect is major !
When the job is done the material can be brought back by Chinook and transported by C-130.
Seeing it fly ait-to-air is amazing, the pilots manoeuvre like it's a shopping car ....   ;-)
But really, it is highly accurate work where absolutely no mistake can be afforded !!
The MAOT (Mobile Air Operations Team, ground) are also specialists, communication is vital !
Detail: The 'MAOT'shows a metal isolated hook, discharging the static electricity of the Chinook
Due to the windforce standing under a Chinook making pictures is hardly possible !! A lucky shot !

LYNX  SH-14D ´DE KOOY´  7 & 860 Sqn

The LYNX helicopters belong to DHC but they are still based at MVK ´De Kooy´ at Den Helder
The Lynx inside, room for cargo, men, stretcher, and an internal hoist.
pilots of 7 and 860 Sqn are very fond of this helicopter. Its fast and well maneuvrable...
... which is a condition for landing on for instance the HMS ´Rotterdam´ carrier.
We flew the LYNX from the Rotterdam to ashore Den Helder. Later on more about Dutch Navy.
The LYNX in action during a competition-exercise due to 50 years SAR in Holland.

Flying LYNX is not only a men´s matter, though the role pattern seems to be traditional... ;-)

Usual flight checks, also visual outside, and next she flies !

Our host at Den Helder was Michel de Koning, pilot / instructor on the LYNX

Michel showed us all about the simulator, where even all in the cockpit can be seen on screens

This 'moving'simulator' gives a mighty good idea how it will be saving people later on in real !

Finally we show you that also maintainance is done at De Kooy...
... and we close with landing on deck of a moving ship ! You need to know how to fly !!
