Todays place of action: Airbase Lossiemouth Scotland.
   
A warm welcome to the press by Basecommander Lloyd Barrett, who introduced us to Lossiemouth base...   
.... and also the various Squadronleaders of UK and foreign participants, waiting to answer any questions. 
An early morning view on the lined up Naval participants of Norway, Canada, New Zealand and US...  
... the French Neptune and a handfull of Hawks

FIRST OF ALL: AIRPLANES !
Probably one of the most interesting airplanes participating, the P8...
....Patrol Squadron 5 (VP5) P8A 'Poseidon'....
....here on its way to the runway for departure. 
Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNowAF) P-3 in the landing....
....the guys do have humor, showing the Norwegian Flag as a Viking !
These guys participated mainly in Naval tasks
The Hawk had a special task....
....which implicated surprise-attacks on enemy ships....

Canadian CP-140 ....
.... in early morning take-off flying to his mission from Lossiemouth airbase
Patrol Sqn 10 (VP-10) from the US Navy arriving at Lossiemouth....
.... as this 'far-away' bird from the Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3K.
Excellent opportunity to see one since they're not seen regular in our environments.
A 'Viking' Hercules arrives for support and transport...
....and his big brother also comes in.
It's like Muhammed Ali, old, but a champion still in its class and very experienced this French Neptune.
Cobham was present with two Falcon 20's, to work together with the Hawks..... 
.....smart guys, they use all kinds of smart avionics.... 
.... to mislead the enemy.
A Falcon '10 Mer' of the French Navy
This fine 'special tailed' Tornado was a treat to many spotters camera...
.... Tom Sunley and Niall Paterson were lucky to see it many times come by....
.... and also depart with brute force !
 
Let's take a look on the inside of the base, the start of a 'wartime' mission...
 
....the pilot makes the final round of visual checks and mounts... 
....the Hawks will start another raid on the 'hostal' ships at sea.    (read the article end of this impression)
...taking care of connecting cables.... 
....  'Anyone seen my cigarettes ??'  (Joke)
The pilot will be flying in minutes together with another Hawk and a Cobham Falcon on its way to the sea.
The second Hawk also drives to the runway...
...adorned with the fine tail representing the 100 years celebration, already five years ago now... 
...and off they go !
This is one of the last Mohicans.... 
....also known as 'Tweety the SAR helicopter'. The Sae King will not last so long anymore in service. 
Let's have a look at the trespassing Tornado's on the taxiway of Lossiemouth, some departing for about one hour... 
....so nice to see them approaching, and almost 'climb' in your lense...
.... awful noise for the ears and fine (!?) kerosine in your nose ;-)  by take-off...
....wheels in already seconds after leaving 'mother earth's surface'....
....right turn after the fulfilled mission in the landing circuit...
....and wheels out after the mission.....
....always willing to greet photographers along the taxiway !
