                Hieronder alvast onze foto impressie van het 65 jarig bestaan van de Belgische Luchtmacht 2011

De beroemde ‘Thunderbirds’ waren in Belgie voor de viering van het 65-jarige bestaan van de Belgische luchtmacht.

Basiscommandant Havermans (L) sprak met voorlichter Jeff Banks (Mediator en begeleider) en diverse piloten
Het beroemde USAF stuntteam toonde z'n kunnen....

De Amerikaanse ambassadeur Gutman ontvangt een prachtige attentie van het gehele team, en er is meer....
... ook voor het publiek. Dit zijn zeldzame beelden boven Europa, want zo vaak zijn ze hier niet.
In nauwe formaties worden diverse figuren gevlogen...
... de F-16's zijn ontdaan van al het overbodige gewicht zoals boordkanonnen...
... alleen is er een extra voorziening voor een soort paraffine olie die de witte strepen genereert.
Ook Kolonel Havermans (Koksijde) ontvangt een herinnering aan het bezoek ter ere van 65 jaar Belgische Luchtmacht
Het onofficiele gebeuren is het leukst, vooral als je met Kristin Hubbard kunt praten, een blonde pilote !
Wat opvalt is dat de status van de piloten een veel grotere hoogte bereikt bij de bevolking als van stuntteams in Europa
Er wordt goed gelet op public relations, presentatie, outfits en het ‘show element’ in het breedste perspectief
Piloten en groundcrews zijn tijdelijk, maar het sfeertje van discipline en profesionaliteit niet, dat zit strak in de regie

Het team beschikt over eigen communicatie installatie. Met een wervelend commentaar wordt de demonstratie omlijst.
De piloten zijn zwaar geselecteerd, vliegen maximaal 2 jaar, en worden piloot met ‘a lot of hard work and a little luck’.
De final break, een ultieme ervaring gepresenteerd door de creme-de-la-creme van de Amerikaanse Luchtmacht.
Bovenstaande foto is van het team op Izmir, ter gelegenheid van het 100 jarig bestaan van de Turkse Luchtmacht.

For our English languaged readers:
 This year 2011 the Belgian Airforce celebrated it's 65th anniversary. Because of this fact the famous USAF Thunderbirds
 team came over to Europe and flew it's magnificent demonstrations. Basecommander Colonel Haverkamp, as well as
 the American Ambassador in Belgium received a memory out of the hands from the team.

To explain a little something....
 We can say for sure that for many people this demonstration team is far out the most well-known and popular  demo-
 team in the World. For many people who reached a more or less 'older age' the Thunderbirds also thank their popularity
 on the 'Thunderbirds series' on TV. Most sophisticated puppet and animated adventures were followed on TV from the  
 Thunderbirds Tracey family. The 'International Rescue Team' operated in the sky and space, fighting criminals of all kind.

 These classis TV-series undoubtedly contributed to the imagination and current popularity of this fine team !

 Thunderbirds is a British mid-1960's science fiction television show devised by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson and made 

 by AP-Films using a form of marionette puppetry dubbed 'Supermarionation. The series followed the adventures of

   

 International Rescue, an organisation created to help those in grave danger using technically advanced equipment and

 machinery. The series focused on the head of the organisation, ex-astronaut Jeff Tracy, and his five sons who piloted the

   

 "Thunderbird" machines. Perennially popular, the series from the 'Thunderbird Island'which was used to launch the TB's 

 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 is still shown today and has inspired a number of subsequent TV programmes and films. (Wikipedia)
