OPERATION
FALCON FROSTFIRE |
![](../03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Early%20morning%20&%20dropping%20(2).jpg) |
Initially
it was the intention to use more helicopters, and Hercules transportplanes
to drop special forces by parachute... |
![](../03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Early%20morning%20&%20dropping%20(1).jpg) |
...but
in the morning of the exercise the weather was too bad to drop the men as
the impression picture shown below. |
![](../03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Early%20morning%20&%20dropping%20(3).jpg) |
Never
the less the exercises in total were a great success. Learning and
improving ! |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Enemy%20'Spetnatz'%20(3).jpg) |
The
'enemies' on the ground however didn't bother about the weather... |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Enemy%20'Spetnatz'%20(9).jpg) |
So
called Russian 'Spetnatz' were prepared for..... anything ! |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/CHINOOK%20(4).JPG) |
Before
the Chinooks would fly the troops in the area a reconnaissance flight was done by a
'drone' (simulated flight by a civil L-39 airplane) |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/blok%20(1).jpg) |
But
when the environment was found safe enough, troopers and material came
into the aera fast and easy ! |

and more fire power keeps on coming...You are
better to be prepared for that and train scenario’s in live exercises |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Troopers%20(11).jpg) |
The
more heavy stuff is guarding essential positions.... |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Troopers%20(10).jpg) |
...which
is also the case in the grasslands.... |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Belgie/Troopers%20(15).jpg) |

All
are waiting to visit 'an unknown settlement' just out of sight of the
'village', not to
seem hostile to the inhabitants..... |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Havelte/Fennec%20(8).jpg) |
....but
nearby just in case something might happen unforseen. |

The
'Dutch Approach' , just not dominant but... present and friendly in the

![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Havelte/Fennec%20(10).jpg) |
Crews
may not be presented with their faces, due to possible postings abroad in
crisis area elsewhere in the world |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Havelte/Fennec%20(11).jpg) |
The
so-called settlement was visited by the Dutch, but no hostilities were
experienced.... |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/Havelte/iN%20FIELD%20(5).jpg) |
....and
the inhabitants had no stress in spite of the military equipment but
thanks to the friendly approach. |

all there, even a model-airplane to do some recce. |

SHARPENING
THE SKILLS: LVG4I |
![](/clipart/400%20mm%20bar.jpg) |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/GLV4/GLV4%20(3).jpg) |
LVG4.
A hardly known area in the middle of nowhere. To reach it to witness this,
you
have to walk for about 45 minutes with your equipment. |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/GLV4/GLV4%20(2).jpg) |
LVG4
stands for 'Laag Vlieg Gebied 4' , or Area 4 where low altitude flying is
allowed in civilian territory. |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/GLV4/GLV4%20(9).jpg) |
Here
the crews of helicopters , MAOT's and others practice in fast but
professional deliveries of neccessary transport vehicles |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/GLV4/GLV4%20(6).jpg) |
Frankly,it's
quite nice to be a witness of such an opportunity. |
![](/03-2016/Sharpen%20Skills/GLV4/GLV4%20(4).jpg) |
Some
impressions: First to touch the slung with a metal hook, static
electricity can be killing. |
